Our Origin Story
For a lot of Americans, coffee is simply a bold caffeine hit in the morning - yet it has so much more to offer. Josh and Zach Seals, the co-founders of WSCR, discovered the world of coffee when traveling the coast of California in 2021 in their beloved camper van.
One of the perks of traveling was getting to visit some of the most famous cafés in the US like Verve in Santa Cruz or Dune in Santa Barbara. A diner mug of black drip coffee was usually all the surf trip budget allowed for, and they started noticing differences at each stop along the way.
We started asking baristas questions like how can black coffee taste so different? Why was that so tart and fruity compared to yesterday’s cup? Where was this coffee from again?
By the end of that trip they were sold! They ditched the grocery store for locally roasted beans, found some reliable brew methods, and found making great coffee like they experienced in those cafe’s was possible at home.
After climbing together at a local gym in Indianapolis, Josh and Zach decided to start roasting coffee for family and friends. It seemed like a daunting project but they just started learning. After some time, Wild Seal Coffee Roasting was born with a vision to share their West Coast joy of coffee with Indianapolis and beyond.
Many people settle for less - but we want to help you explore a wilder, and frankly really fun, side of coffee.
